When we founded QRS, we wanted to bring our combined expertise, relationships and knowledge to the rights management universe, mainly through our Insight consulting activity. We knew from experience that many players in the rights ecosystem often faced challenges when dealing with various rules, data, standards or even opportunities created by a fast-changing business environment. We also offer our Montage product, a no-nonsense, fully functional and easily configurable suite of Rights and Data Management Services software.
We know that because rightsholder data is crucial and sensitive in the digital and AI era, trust has become more important than ever. This means trust between creators and publishers, between rightsholders and collective management organizations and among all these players and providers of software solutions or products.
To be entrusted with rightsholders data and ultimately their business interests, some qualities should be evident: being competent, reliable and cost-effective. But independence should also not be overlooked.
In today’s world, with mergers, acquisitions and consolidation happening every day, and on scales that in many respects are unprecedented, being sure that your data is not in hands that are conflicted or could become conflicted is critical.
Utmost care should be taken to ensure a software provider is not your competitor who ultimately learns about your business strategy, your strengths and your weaknesses because they have inherited a rights and data management software business via a broader business deal.
